Hi, I’m Yena, a Korean-English bilingual student at Vanderbilt University. I’m passionate about helping people feel more confident using Korean, whether they’re learning their first phrases or working toward more natural conversation.

As someone who uses both Korean and English, I can explain not only what a word or sentence means, but also how it sounds and when people would actually say it. I’m patient, approachable, and happy to adjust my explanations to each student’s pace. You can ask questions freely, make mistakes, and practice without feeling pressured.

I can support learners with Hangul, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, everyday conversation, and cultural context. I especially enjoy helping students connect what they learn in a lesson to real situations, so Korean feels useful beyond a textbook. Whether you’re learning for school, travel, personal interest, or conversation practice, I’ll listen to your goals and help you make steady progress in a friendly and encouraging environment.

Hi! I’m Yena, a Korean-English bilingual student at Vanderbilt University. I enjoy helping people learn Korean in a way that feels practical, encouraging, and connected to their goals.

My lessons are personalized to each student’s level and interests. We can work on Hangul, pronunciation, everyday vocabulary, grammar, conversation, or expressions you might hear in real life. In our first lesson, we’ll talk about what you want to learn and what you already know. A typical lesson includes a short review, one or two new topics, guided practice, and a quick recap so you can see what you’ve learned.

Since I speak both Korean and English, I can explain tricky points in English when that helps, then give you time to practice in Korean. I also enjoy sharing cultural context and explaining when an expression sounds natural in everyday conversation.

My lessons are a good fit for complete beginners, students learning Korean for school or travel, and anyone who wants a friendly conversation partner. I’ll adjust the pace and activities to your needs, and I hope to help you feel more confident using Korean step by step.
