Hi, I'm Carey. I scored a 5 on the AP Language and Composition exam and will be attending Columbia University this fall, studying philosophy and creative writing. I know exactly what the AP Lang exam demands, and more importantly, I know how to get you there. Having gone through the exam myself, I understand the pressure of timed writes, the nuances of MCQ passages, and what graders are truly looking for in a high-scoring response. That firsthand experience informs every session I teach. Whether you're aiming for a 5 or simply looking to approach the exam with greater confidence, I tailor my teaching to your individual needs and build from where you are. I have a deep passion for writing and language, and I believe that comes through in how I teach.

My lessons are personalized to each student. For AP Lang, we cover all three components of the exam: rhetorical analysis essays, argument essays, and synthesis writing — but also the multiple choice section, which students often overlook. We can work through all three essay types or focus exclusively on rhetorical analysis, argumentation, or synthesis — whichever you need most. I break down how to read passages efficiently, eliminate wrong answers strategically, and identify rhetorical devices quickly under time pressure.
I use real past AP prompts and official MCQ practice, so you're training on exactly what you'll see on exam day. I break down scoring rubrics in plain language so you always know what graders are looking for.
I'm a great fit for students who feel overwhelmed by essay writing, stuck on MCQs, or unsure how to approach the exam overall. Whether you're starting from scratch or polishing your skills before May, I'll meet you where you are. Sessions are flexible, conversational, and focused on real results.
