Hi! I'm a Friendly Korean Tutor from South Korea!

Just like dancing to a rhythm, I believe learning a language becomes easier and more enjoyable when you find your own rhythm.

I've traveled independently to 13 countries and lived in Canada and New Zealand. Through these experiences, I learned that textbook language can feel quite different from the language people actually use in everyday life.

While learning English myself, I often wondered, “Why do people say it this way?” That experience helps me understand how it feels when you know the grammar but are still unsure what to say in a real conversation.

My goal is simple: I want to help you learn Korean that you can actually use.

My teaching philosophy is:
Expression over perfection. Communication over tests.

You don't have to speak perfect Korean before starting. You start learning Korean so that you can speak it!

I majored in ballet and currently work as a line dance instructor. Dance has taught me the importance of rhythm, repetition, patience, and practice. I believe these same qualities can make language learning more enjoyable.

My lessons are designed to be friendly, relaxed, and personalized to your level, interests, and goals. You can make mistakes, speak slowly, and learn at your own pace.

Whether you're starting Korean from zero, love K-pop and K-dramas, want to travel to Korea, or already know grammar but struggle to speak naturally, I'd love to help you.

I welcome learners from North America and around the world who want to learn Korean in a comfortable, encouraging environment.

Speak First. Then Make It Better!

My one-to-one online Korean lessons are personalized to your level, interests, and goals.

Instead of spending the whole lesson memorizing grammar rules, we will use what you learn to make your own sentences and talk about yourself.

For example:

“저는 커피를 좋아해요.” — I like coffee.

We can gradually expand this sentence:

“저는 아침에 커피를 마셔요.” — I drink coffee in the morning.

“저는 아이스 아메리카노를 좋아해요.” — I like iced Americano.

“한국 카페에 가면 이 메뉴를 먹어 보고 싶어요.” — When I go to a Korean café, I want to try this menu.

A simple sentence becomes your sentence!

Grammar vs. Usage

One thing I especially focus on is the difference between grammar and usage.

Grammar is how a sentence is formed.

Usage is how Korean speakers actually use expressions in real situations.

You may learn a grammatically correct sentence but still wonder, “Would a Korean person really say it this way?”

We will explore natural expressions, context, tone, and subtle differences in meaning so that your Korean becomes not only correct but also more natural and useful in real conversations.

Beginner Lessons

If you're starting from zero, that's completely okay!

We can start with:
- Hangul and pronunciation
- Basic vocabulary
- Simple sentence patterns
- Everyday expressions
- Short speaking practice

You don't need to say a lot at first. Even one word is a beginning.

Intermediate Lessons

If you already know Korean grammar but have trouble speaking, we'll focus on turning what you know into real conversation.

We can talk about:
- Daily life and everyday experiences
- Travel
- Movies and K-dramas
- K-pop
- Food
- Hobbies and personal interests

The goal is not simply to know more grammar.
The goal is to use the Korean you already know more naturally.

Advanced Lessons

For advanced learners, we can explore:
- Natural expressions
- Nuance and tone
- Everyday Korean
- K-drama and variety-show expressions
- Differences between textbook Korean and real Korean
- Conversations based on your interests

We will work on expressing your thoughts more naturally and understanding how Korean is used in everyday situations.

After our lessons, I can organize important expressions, corrections, grammar points, and useful sentences in a personalized Google Note.

This gives you something to review after class instead of trying to remember everything during the lesson. Your notes can grow with you as your Korean improves.
